Whoo Hoot Wednesday

Well, it's that time again. And I hope you sit back, relax and settle in, 'cos it's gonna be kind of a long one. Lots to Whoo Hoot about!! (And remember, I haven't blogged in about a week!)

But before I do that, I just wanted to say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Serena; I hope you are having a lovely day. Serena is one of my online scrapping friends; we have been emailing each other for a while now, and she is also competing in the Olympics.

OK, where to start. Well, I guess with the lovely weather we are having - I just wake up in a good mood!

Yesterday I just had the best day SHOPPING. And I wrote that in caps 'cos I shopped up large. Bargains galore. The best thing I got was a Cuttlebug Machine; I have been considering getting one for about a year now, and just haven't taken the plunge 'cos I am not sure I would get the use out of it, but lately I have seen so many good embossing ideas using a Cuttlebug I really started thinking about it seriously. And as luck would have it, I rang Warehouse Stationery to see if they still had one I had seen a few weeks ago, and they must have been desperate to get rid of it, 'cos they sold it to me for $50!!!! Now, ain't that a good deal!! I must say, the box was a little damaged, and the paper pack and little postage die that was supposed to come with it were missing, but other than that, in perfect condition. I am so excited, and can't wait to start buying some embossing...dies(??).

And that's not all in the scrapping line; my lovely DH has allowed me (note the heavy sarcasm) to preorder a Making Memories Slice. I found a website that was preordering European versions of the Slice, and we have plenty of transformer plugs here from Europe curtesy of my DH who spent the first 30 years of his life in Europe. It took a bit of convincing, but having promised that my Christmas and Birthday presents for the foreseeable future would now be covered, he finally agreed. I am so excited, and I also ordered 3 of my fave cartridges so when it finally arrives (probably November some time) I can start using it immediately. I am so stoked; I can't wait to get this little beauty in my hot little hands!!

Whilst I was out and about yesterday picking up the cuttlebug, I decided to stop in to the Farmers sale and pick up a few things, and got a lovely new dinnerset to replace my chipped old one, and some new Sheridan towels too - they are so expensive, so I love to get them on sale.

Whilst in Farmers, I found these cute shoes and couldn't resist - they are black and tan, so will go with everything, and the best thing is that they have a great wedge heel, so I look a lot taller without wearing killer stilletos. I can see them becoming my new summer fave! And no, they are not leather, and they were cheap, but I love them. I also got heaps of clothes for my summer wardrobe; after putting on weight and having nothing that fits and then going shopping and getting depressed 'cos nothing looks nice, it was so nice to find some stuff that looks good.

My oldest girlfriend (ooops, I mean I have known her since we were 5, not that she is ancient, lol!!), Leanne, is coming over from Melbourne to visit me for a week in November. Can't wait!!

School holidays are starting soon, and Aurelia and I are going to go spend a week with my sister in Tauranga; we both love spending time with her family as Aurelia has so much fun playing with her cousins, and I just get to hang out with my fantastic sis.

I finally gave in and went to a hairdresser today. I have a little fear of hairdressers; my hair can be very temperamental, but it was getting so long and out-of-control I simply had to do it, and I am so pleased I did. I feel so much lighter; just what I needed for Spring! And I have to say, the 10 minute head massage and vibrating massage chair were pretty fabulous too!

I was named a runner-up again in the Olympics with the layout from the my last post.

Telethon's back!! Janine has a fantastic clip over on her blog with 8 minutes of bits from the 1981 Telethon. I was a little young to appreciate much of this telethon, but it was worth watching just to hear that fantastic theme song again. I really hope they don't change it. And yes, I sang along to all 8 minutes.

I am so looking forward to the crop at NZ Scrapbook this Saturday with some of the girls from Sketchbook. It is going to be so nice to finally meet some of the people I 'talk' to every week - hell, who am I kidding, every day! And to spend a day scrapping.

OK, I know I have just chewed your ears off, but was feeling so good and positive today I thought I would get it down on paper - I am not always this positive! I will leave you with my latest entry in the Olympics:

This was a little something different for me. I tried really hard to use different colours and really use layering and distressing on this page. I feel I was somewhat successful; I am really happy with the background page with distressing on the edges, and I love how the sun turned out, but I feel I didn't do so well on the layering. Now, I am really not being too hard on myself, I am just trying to look at my work with a critical eye so I can improve. And I actually like this layout a lot, I have just learned from it that I need to practice my layering technique more! I also wish I had made the smaller photos a little bigger, 'cos they are so damn cute!! Her facial expressions are just so funny. We had such a great day that day at The Gardens with some friends. We had a picnic lunch, and then Paul, Luke's Dad, started spraying Aurelia and Luke with the sprinkler and before long they were completely drenched and stripping off all their clothes!! Not sure if the Gardens workers' would have been too happy, but luckily they didn't see us. A fantastic summer day! Not long before we will be having some more of those...

What an epic shopping day you had for yourself! I have started shopping at Farmers for clothes too. They seem to have more 'real' or 'true' sizes compared to the other chains. A great variety of labels/price ranges too.

I will have to google what a "slice" is. Haven't heard of one before.

Neat layout too. :)
